AHDER was founded with the aim of preparing the community to the disasters following the devastating earhquakes in Turkey in 1999. Since that time,Ahder has been the only non-government organization in Turkey; with the mission of disaster preparedness. Numerous national and international training programs and projects were conducted in association with respectful organizations.

PLAYFUL WORLD /LIVING WITH EARTHQUAKE STORY BOOK:
This story is recommended by the Turkish National Education Ministry for the primary education students. The Basics of earthquakes( how they happen,earthquake zones etc.)precautions and behaviors before,during and after the earthquake are being explained as a story.

MYSTERY OF BUILDINGS STORY BOOK:
This storybook concentrates on structural hazards that can be caused by the earhquakes and the characteristics of reliable buildings.The book explains how earthquake proof buldings must be constructed, up keeping of the buildings and hazards that can be caused because of the faulty usage in a very clear way by the experiments and examples. Families can also take advantage of the book easily They can find useful information about concrete quality,ground factor and other importent issues.This information may help them to rent or buy an earthquake proof house.

WHAT IS HAPPENING AT OUR ENVIROMENT STORY BOOK?
This story book targets both yje primary school children and their parents. It teaches yhe reasons of enviromental pollution, how to take precautins to prevent it and what the children can do for a better environment by a very easy-to-understand and enjoyable story.

1 MILLION KIDS, 1 MILLION FAMILIES PROJECT
Children are the future of the community. It is very important to educate them. At the same time, children are the most vulnerable groups at the disasters. Because of these reasons,AHDER has started “1 Million Kids,1 Million families”projects in 2004. The aim was to educate 1miilion children and through this channel also to educate the families of these children as the children are the keys to reach the families. For this purpose a protocol had been signed between Disaster Preparedness and Earthquake Training Association and Ministry of National Education. Since today approximately 350.000 children have been trained and 350.000 books have been distributed. The trainings are still continuing with the support of sponsors from private sector and municipalities in 5 different cities.

OUR INTERNAL PROJECTS
AHDER has implemented various international projects as a partner”Community Based Disaster Risk Management” courses were given to govermental officials and non- govermental organization representatives from Iran İn 2004 In cooperation with international partners from Europe and Asia participants were trained in disaster risk management issues.A seperate training of “Basic Urban Search and Resque” was also given.
